Graduating with honors in Fine Art, I arrived in Ireland 0ver 20 years ago to paint the dramatic landscape. Very quickly I replaced the limits of the framed canvas with the limitless stage of the garden.
My formal training in studio based art has trained me to see the world as combinations of colour and composition. I look at the trees and shrubs to be shaped, in much the way a sculptor looks at a large untouched stone, which has it's own inherent shape and beauty. My aim is to prune and plant in such a way that illuminates the natural beauty and inherent shapes found outdoors.
Fine Art in Gardens
I design gardens deeply rooted in place, people, and purpose. My approach is informed by the character and quality of the land, the space, and the clients vision, in order to develop your vision into a space that inspires and delights you. Never far from fine art, imagining with a pencil or paintbrush is intrinsic to my process.
Learn
I begin working with clients by gathering information. Through conversation and a thorough survey of the space and grounds at hand, I’ll develop an understanding of your vision, and the space we’ll be working with.
Envision
Once we both feel comfortable that I’ve got a grasp of you and your needs, I’ll create sketches and present photo imagery to build a visual concept and a written outline for the work to be done. Together we’ll identify a plan to bring your vision to life that fulfills the clients aspirations and fits with the indigenous surroundings.
Create
With our plan in place, I assemble a team to bring your garden to life. I’ll manage every aspect of the plan we establish, including hiring construction and maintenance professionals as needed. Throughout the project I’ll be present to ensure the vision is understood and executed to your specifications.
